FAQ

If you have a question, please consult our list of frequently asked questions before reaching out for assistance.

Previous Tattooing:

If you have had previous cosmetic tattooing from another technician, you MUST inform Browtisan before booking your appointment. We may ask you to come in for a consultation prior and possibly request a photo with details of  the timing and frequency of your previous treatments. As it’s our prerogative to provide you with the best result, with your best interest at heart - In some cases, this may mean we are unable to treat you.

Does it hurt?

We use a strong numbing cream that is applied before and during the entire cosmetic tattoo procedure. It is important to us that your experience is as comfortable and pain free as possible. Everyone’s pain threshold varies and can also be affected by your personal circumstances such as stress level or menstrual cycle. Even a recent cold or flu, which may have stressed your immune system, can impact your procedure.

Pre-care + after-care Instructions:

NO CAFFEINE 24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR TREATMENT

Your pre-care and after-care instructions will be sent to you via sms once you have made your booking. Please ensure you read this well before your booking date so you are prepared. Your artist will go through the information with you step by step, and answer any questions that you may have.

It is IMPORTANT that you read through your aftercare sheet again once you arrive home and stick to the advised regime. We want you to have the best possible results, and we are sure you do too.

Can I bring a child, friend or family member with me?

We are both excited about your appointment and understand that you may be a little bit nervous, however, we do request that your appointment is private. We want the focus to be on you and have found that a second person sitting in on an appointment can be distracting for both the artist and the client. We thank you for your understanding.

How long does the treatment take?

The initial procedure takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. During this time, a thorough
consultation (if not done prior) is conducted, where we discuss your desired look and what you wish to achieve. We choose a colour by placing the pigment on your skin, then measure and draw the initial outline of the procedure area.

We do our best to create as much symmetry as possible! Our favourite saying is “BROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS”.

The touch up appointment takes approximately 1 hour.

Touch ups are done no earlier than 4-6 weeks after your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. If you leave your touch up appointment longer than 10 weeks, you may be required to pay an additional fee.

Occasionally,  some clients experience reduced pigment retention and may require a third touch up (6 -8 weeks later). This will incur another fee of $100 - $150.

Conditions and Cancellation policy.

We understand that at times unforeseen circumstances may get in the way of an appointment. However, please understand that rescheduling on short - notice or a cancelled appointment, affects us as a small business. We have specifically set aside time for you. This also means another client could have taken this spot.

How long does it last?

The pigment used in the cosmetic tattoo procedure is semi-permanent and can last anywhere between 1-2 years. You will notice the pigment will begin to fade within 6- 12 months depending on skin type and care. We can not guarantee the longevity of healed results as each individual is very unique.

In order to keep your brows looking immaculate, a touch up/refresh appointment is recommended every 8-12 months.  Clients that choose a softer look and lighter shade initially, or those who did not follow the aftercare instructions properly, may require more frequent touch up appointments.

Factors that can cause your cosmetic tattoo fade faster:

  • Iron deficiency
  • Sun exposure
  • Active ingredients in skin care
  • Exfoliants & glycolic scrubs
  • Oily skin
  • Exposure to salt water and chlorine
